Canadian international Josh Larsen helped Otago win the Ranfurley Shield by defeating Waikato 23-19 in Hamilton
The Ranfurly Shield, known as the Log o' Wood, is a trophy in New Zealand's domestic rugby union competition. Dating back to 1904, the Shield is based on a challenge system, rather than a league or knockout competition.
The 24-year-old second row and former Canada U20 standout has 10 caps for Canada, dating back to his debut against Georgia last November in Tbilisi.
Canada's Men's Rugby Team is preparing for next month's last-chance repechage for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan, with the winner taking the final spot in Pool B to face New Zealand, South Africa, Italy and Namibia.
