LANGFORD, B.C. (November 5, 2018) – International men’s rugby returns to the Home of Canadian Rugby at Westhills Stadium in Langford, BC in 2019 as Canada’s Men’s Team is set to face Chile (February 22) and Argentina XV (March 1) as part of the Americas Rugby Championship (ARC).
The 2019 ARC will once again see Canada, USA, Uruguay, Chile, Brazil and Argentina XV face off in a round-robin style format across multiple locations in North and South America starting on February 2nd and will crown the tournament champion on March 9th. This year World Rugby has also added a bye week in the middle of the competition as part of their commitment to player welfare.
“We are excited to bring international rugby back to Westhills Stadium for our Men’s Team to face both Chile and Argentina XV as part of the 2019 Americas Rugby Championship,” said Allen Vansen, Chief Executive Officer, Rugby Canada. “We have nearly 50 men’s players that train in Langford day-in, day-out and know that the local crowd will get behind us as they have done over the past few years,” added Vansen.
Tickets for the games in Langford – in the form of a two-game pack for only $49 – will be available to the public Thursday, November 8th, 2018 @ 10:00 AM PT via www.rugby.ca. Due to renovations at Westhills Stadium, seating is limited for these two fixtures - don’t wait to purchase! Single game tickets, if available, will go on-sale later this year.
Along with these two home fixtures, Rugby Canada, USA Rugby & the Seattle Seawolves of the Major League Rugby have partnered to host the USA vs. Canada fixture at Starfire Sports Complex on March 8th, which is also the weekend of the 4th annual HSBC Canada Sevens at BC Place in Vancouver. Ticket information for this match will be released via the Seawolves later this month.
