Match Official Development

The development of match officials across Canada is paramount to the sustained success of rugby across the country.

  • WR Level 1 15s & 7s

    WR Level 1 15s & 7s

    This course is designed for the beginner referee and is offered over the course of a single day or in a blend of online and in-person sessions.

    Prior to registration, match officials must complete the following:

    • WR Rugby Ready
    • WR Concussion Management for the General Public
    • WR Laws of the Game
    • WR Introduction to Match Officiation
    • WR Beginner’s Guide to Rugby

    Once all the prerequisites are complete, participants can register for the course.

     

  • WR Level 2 15s & 7s

    This course is designed for referees looking to increase their skill and competency and is delivered over the course of 2 days.

    Prior to registration match officials must complete the following:

    • WR Rugby Ready
    • WR Concussion Management for the General Public
    • WR Laws of the Game

    Once all the prerequisites are complete, participants can register for the course.

  • WR Level 3 15s or 7s

    This course is designed for experienced referees looking to progress to the next level and is delivered over several days in junction with a competition. This course is by invitation only and applications must be submitted directly to Rugby Canada.
