Rugby 7s Senior Women, Rugby 7s Senior Men

VANCOUVER, B.C. (September 17th, 2019) – Canada Sevens organizers and Rugby Canada announced today that tickets for the 2020 HSBC Canada Sevens taking place at BC Place Stadium March 7-8, 2020 will go on sale at 10:00am PT Tuesday, October 22nd for the newly introduced Subscription Ticket option, followed by the Public ticket on-sale for two-day tournament passes on Tuesday, October 29th. A new digital ticketing platform will provide more flexibility for fans with the option of securing subscription seats through to 2021.

The 2020 tournament will mark the 5th time that the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series has visited Vancouver as part of its global 10 city tour, and will be the testing ground for the world’s best Sevens teams as they prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. This will be the last chance for fans to see the Canadian men’s team play on home soil before they head to their first-ever appearance at an Olympic Games.

Ticket prices for the 2020 tournament range from as low as $99 for a two-day General Admission tournament pass (for groups of 10 or more), to Premium seats Grosvenor Club at $289. February 1, 2020 will see an increase in GA pricing, so organizers are encouraging fans to secure their tickets early.  Full details of ticket pricing and categories can be found by visiting www.canadasevens.com/tickets/.

As part of the organizing committee’s continued efforts to build on its first-in-class experience for fans and achieve their goal of becoming the greenest stop on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, the tournament will be shifting to mobile-only tickets, similar to other sporting events at BC Place. Ticketmaster’s Account Manager platform will provide fans with a safe and secure method to purchase, transfer, or re-sell their tickets.

Also, new this year, for an additional $5 fee per seat, fans will have exclusive access to a select number of subscription tickets throughout BC Place Stadium, providing first right of refusal on the same seats the following year. By purchasing a subscription ticket, fans will also be able to buy tickets one week ahead of the general public, and gain access to exclusive benefits throughout the year. The new subscription ticket presale will replace the traditional Early Bird presale that has occurred in previous years.

“We continue to push for the best experience possible for our fans who play such a big role in the success of HSBC Canada Sevens, and we are thrilled to introduce a subscription ticket option for those fans who want to secure the same seats for 2020 and 2021,” said Laine Walden, Director for the HSBC Canada Sevens. “In addition to offering our dedicated fans first rights of refusal, this ticket option will offer priority access to purchase tickets to other Rugby Canada and Canada Sevens events, as well as early access to Rugby Canada merchandise sales.”

Fans are encouraged to visit www.canadasevens.com/tickets/ to learn more about the changes to the ticketing process, and how to sign up for the subscription ticket presale in advance of the October 22nd- 28th  one week on-sale. Single-year sales and GA two-day passes will be available for purchase beginning October 29th at 10:00am PT.

In March of 2019, tournament organizers announced that they had successfully secured the rights to host the wildly popular event for another 4 years after achieving rave reviews year over year by both the athletes who participate, and the ever-growing fan base that continues to extend beyond B.C.  Support for the tournament also remains strong as evidenced by a number of renewed partnerships including Series Title partner HSBC, Global partners, DHL, Capgemini, & UL, as well as local Premier partners Grosvenor and Sport Hosting Vancouver and event partner BC Place Stadium.

“2020 is a special year as both our women’s and men’s teams will be into their final preparation for the Olympic Games in Japan. We’re also excited about what the future holds for the HSBC Canada Sevens, and are hugely appreciative of the continued support from the local corporate community, the Government of Canada and the Province of B.C.,” said Allen Vansen, CEO, Rugby Canada.  “The weekend has become an absolute “must attend” on Canada’s entertainment calendar, and it simply wouldn’t be possible without this enthusiastic and engaged group who have become such important members of the Rugby Canada family.”
