DHL Canada has our backs

Rugby 15s Senior Men

With the 2019 Rugby World Cup underway in Japan, DHL is once again stepping up and showing their support for the Canadian Rugby World Cup team. Competing on the world’s largest rugby stage, this is the moment that these Canadian players have been working towards their entire lives – and DHL will be with them every step of the way…literally.

As a follow up to DHL’s 2015 activation, every time the Canadian team takes to the field in Japan at the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the faces of more than 1600 DHL employees from across Canada will once again be embedded in the numbers of 23 Canadian team jerseys.  Employees from across Canada will be represented as part of DHL’s message to the Canadian Rugby World Cup team that DHL has their backs.

“We are thrilled to once again be connecting our dedicated and passionate workforce to the players we proudly support at one of the largest sporting events in the world,” said Hazel Valencia, Head of Marketing and PR for DHL Express

Canada. “On behalf of the entire DHL family who share the same commitment to excellence as the players on the pitch, we are proud to have their backs and wish them the very best of luck at the 2019 Rugby World Cup.”

“While there is no greater feeling than putting on a Canadian team jersey and representing your country, there is something incredibly special about seeing the faces of DHL employees from coast to coast who support us year in and year out, and who literally have our backs as we head into one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” said Tyler Ardron, Captain of the Canadian Rugby World Cup Team. “We sincerely appreciate DHL’s continued support, and are grateful for the significant role they play in promoting and supporting the game of rugby not only in Canada but around the world.”

In addition to contributing to the growth and success of Rugby world-wide, DHL has been serving as Canada’s primary union partner since 2014.  In that time, they have played a critical role in supporting high performance rugby in Canada, be it through the direct national senior team sponsorships, or the valuable role they play in bringing the annual HSBC Canada Sevens Series to life in Vancouver, B.C.

As part of their innovative partnership, DHL also launched a DHL Match Ball Delivery contest that will see contest winner Trinity Bodenchuk from Abbotsford, B.C. deliver the match ball to the referee at the Canada vs South Africa game at Kobe Misaki Stadium on Tuesday, October 8th.
