VANCOUVER, BC  Four of the world’s top rugby nations - the New Zealand All Blacks XV, the Flying Fijians, USA and hosts Canada will participate in the inaugural Halloween Rugby Weekend, this October at BC Place Stadium.

The games will feature the newly formed All Blacks XV squaring off against the Flying Fijians on Halloween night, and Canada hitting the pitch against their continental rivals USA on Friday the 30th October.

The event in Vancouver is the first leg of a three-city world tour by the All Blacks XV team and was announced prior to the final of the wildly successful HSBC Canada Sevens tournament, also staged at BC Place.

“We’re thrilled to be a partner in bringing these matches to Canada,” said Rugby Canada CEO Allen Vansen. “We look forward to working with our event partners Sport Hosting Vancouver and Left Field Live on this event, as well as future opportunities to have Tier 1 rugby nations visit Vancouver.”

Two national-team players - All Black Nathan Harris and Team Fiji’s Ben Volavola - were in attendance at the HSBC Canada Sevens and are excited to compete in front of Vancouver rugby fans this October.

“Vancouver is a great city and BC Place an exciting venue, and I know the All Blacks XV will love playing here.  This will be an awesome way for rugby fans to come out and celebrate Halloween,” commented Nathan Harris.

“We’ve seen fans go crazy for the 7s in Vancouver and we know they will be equally excited about the Halloween Rugby Weekend,” said Ben Volavola. “It will be a big occasion for the players to entertain such a fun and lively crowd. They love their rugby.”

“We have a rich history of hosting international rugby here in Vancouver, most notably with the annual HSBC Canada Sevens. Through the work of our Sport Hosting Vancouver partnership, we are proud to be hosting the inaugural Halloween Rugby Weekend in 2020,” said Michelle Collens of Sport Hosting Vancouver. “We look forward to working with our partners to build a new tradition over Halloween.”

An exclusive ticket pre-sale window will be available to HSBC Canada Sevens subscription holders and Rugby Canada subscribers starting Friday, March 13th at 10am. The public ticket sale will open on Monday, March 16th, also at 10am. Tickets will initially be available as two-game packages.
