Rugby 15s U19 Men

The safety of athletes, staff, officials and fans remains the top priority for Rugby Canada and the Provincial Rugby Unions.

May 19, 2020 (Langford, BC) It is with regret that Rugby Canada and the Provincial Unions confirm the cancellation of the 2020 Men’s U19 Canadian Rugby Championship (CRC) due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.  The safety of athletes, staff, officials and fans remains the top priority for Rugby Canada and the Provincial Rugby Unions.

The 2020 CRC’s were originally scheduled to be played in July hosted by Rugby Ontario.  The annual tournament features 6 teams:

  • BC
  • Alberta
  • Prairies
  • Ontario
  • Quebec
  • Atlantic

Rugby Canada’s Managing Director of Rugby Operations, Dustin Hopkins said, “Obviously we are very disappointed to have to cancel one of our major age grade events, and feel for the young athletes who won’t be able to compete this summer.  However, the safety of the teams, staff, fans, and the general public are paramount during these difficult times.  We look forward to resuming this competition in 2021.”

Rugby Canada and the Provincial Unions would like to thank the tournament organizing committee for their efforts under difficult circumstances.
