April 26, 2022 (Vancouver, BC) – Canada’s Senior Women’s Sevens team is set to make its return to Langford, BC for the HSBC Canada Women’s Sevens this weekend, April 30 and May 1. Ahead of the event, Head Coach Jack Hanratty has confirmed his roster, presented by Velocity Trade.
Having qualified for the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in South Africa by winning the RAN Sevens Qualifiers in Nassau, Bahamas last weekend, the Canadians head into their home event high on confidence. It will be the first time the team has played the tournament at Starlight Stadium, the home of Rugby Canada, since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tickets are available here.
Hanratty has made one change to the roster which had such success at the RAN Sevens Qualifiers as up-and-coming young talent Renee Gonzalez, who made her debut in Vancouver last year, comes into the squad. Meanwhile, Olympians Bianca Farella and Keyara Wardley continue to feature having made their comeback in Nassau.
“On the back of some good momentum at the RAN Sevens Qualifiers last weekend, the group couldn’t be more excited to be back in Langford to compete at our home event,” said Hanratty. “The opportunity to play against the best teams in the world in front of a passionate Canadian crowd for this new, talented group of players is such an electrifying prospect.”
