Head Coach Kevin Rouet has named the match day roster for Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team’s test match against South Africa.

Canada will play South Africa on Saturday March 25 at 4:00 p.m. local time (8:00 a.m. PT / 11:00 a.m. ET) at Estadio Nacional de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid in Spain. This will be the first time that Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team has played South Africa in 10 years, having last met at the 2013 Nations Cup. Fans can stream the game for free on ferugby.tv.

Edmonton’s Fancy Bermudez will earn her first international 15s cap on Saturday. Bermudez debuted for Canada’s Women’s Sevens Team in September 2021 at the Fast Four tournament in Vancouver. She has since played in 51 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series matches, scoring 45 points.

Cassandra Tuffnail and Mahalia Robinson could earn their first caps as well. A former University of Guelph number eight, Tuffnail now plays in the UK for Richmond Rugby as a loose-head prop. Robinson is a standout fly half from Concordia University, who led her team with 55 points in the 2022-23 season and scored all 24 of Concordia’s points in the RSEQ bronze medal match.

Next Saturday, April 1, Canada will face the USA in the first match of 2023 Pacific Four Series at 5:00pm local time (8:00 a.m. PT / 11:00 a.m. ET) in Madrid, kicking off a campaign to qualify for the top tier of the inaugural WXV global women’s international 15s competition. The roster for this game will be announced next week.
