Canada’s U20 Women’s Rugby Team faces USA at TD Place

Canada’s U20 Women’s Rugby Team helped kick off a record-breaking day at TD Place in Ottawa on July 8 by taking to the pitch against the USA.  

While the USA took a 14-0 lead in the first 20 minutes of play, Canada responded with three tries from Victoria Stanley, Carissa Norsten and Tia Jordo, with a conversion by Gerry Atkins, to take the lead 17-14 at half-time.

The Americans scored four more tries in the second half, but Canada continued to put on a great defensive effort. Norsten scored once more in the final minute of play, converted by Lauren Maye. The USA won by a final score of 40-24.

“Today we were working on some of our goals that we’ve been working on over the last week and we’re looking to implement them in our final game against Wales,” said Atkins. “We’re hoping to take all of these main goals that we’ve been working on as a set group and bring them forward into our final leg of the tour.”

Canada’s U20 Women’s Rugby Team is back in action on July 13 at 6:30 p.m. ET against Wales at Twin Elm Rugby Park.
