Schedule announced for Canada’s rugby sevens Olympic qualification campaign

The schedule for the winner-takes-all rugby sevens Paris 2024 Qualification Event being hosted at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC over August 19 to 20, Rugby Americas North Sevens, has been released.  

The schedule for the winner-takes-all rugby sevens Paris 2024 Qualification Event being hosted at Starlight Stadium in Langford, BC over August 19 to 20, Rugby Americas North Sevens, has been released.  

Fans will get to cheer on Canada’s Women’s and Men’s Sevens Teams six times for pool play on Saturday August 19, with the high stakes play-off action set for Sunday August 20. The tournament’s grand finale on August 20 will be the men’s final (4:38 p.m. PT) and the women’s final (5:32 p.m. PT), the winners of which will directly qualify for Paris 2024. 

The women’s competition will feature one pool of Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, with the top two teams following pool play progressing to the final.  

The men’s competition is divided into two pools, with Canada playing Barbados, Jamaica and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The pools will then cross over for play-offs, with the top two teams from each pool playing in the semi-finals. 

In addition to two full days of rugby under the sun, fans will get to experience the party of the summer at Starlight Stadium, featuring a BBQ, beer gardens, food trucks, DJs, and more.
