2024 CANADIAN U19 RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIPS KICK OFF JULY 27 IN WOLFVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA

Canadian U19 Championships

The 2024 Canadian U19 Rugby Championships are set to take place July 29 to August 4 at Acadia University.

The 2024 Canadian U19 Rugby Championships are set to be hosted by Rugby Nova Scotia July 29 to August 4 at Acadia University.

Both the women’s and men’s competition will feature teams from BC, Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic. This will be the second time that a women’s U19 Canadian Championship with regional teams has been staged. The previous co-ed tournament was held last July and August at the University of British Columbia

This year’s championship promises to be a critical evaluation opportunity for Canada’s U20 teams. Representatives from both the women’s and men’s U20 programs will attend to assess talent and connect with provincial coaches.

"The Canadian U19 Rugby Championships provide us an excellent opportunity to evaluate the next generation of potential national team players,” said Stephen Aboud, Rugby Canada’s High Performance Director. “To see nearly 300 of the best U19 rugby players from across the country in competition against each other is hugely valuable to us as we build our U20 national team long lists for 2025, and our overall player depth. We also hope it's an opportunity for all participants to fully experience the values of rugby and have fun building camaraderie with teammates and making new connections during their visit to Wolfville and Acadia University."

Rugby Canada has bolstered its scouting procedures for the championships, incorporating comprehensive pre-event and post-match player evaluations. Additionally, Rugby Canada analysts will collaborate with the event's streaming supplier [LM1] to enhance player assessment capabilities.

Rugby Canada would like to thank Rugby Nova Scotia and Acadia University for hosting this year’s event. Their support and dedication are instrumental in providing a platform for the nation’s top U19 rugby players to compete and develop.

“Rugby Nova Scotia is excited to welcome the top U19 players from across Canada to Wolfville for the 2024 Canadian Rugby Championships,” said Chad Mahoney, President of Rugby Nova Scotia. “We are looking forward to a great week of competition showcasing the next generation of players and would encourage you to take in a match at Acadia University, if you’re in town or join in on the action via the online stream."

All matches are free to attend and will take place on Dyke Fields, next to the Acadia University Athletics Complex.

Rugby Canada is also pleased to announce the roster of officials for the tournament. A mix of experienced and developing referees have been invited to ensure a safe and competitive environment for the teams.
