The draw for the 2025 Rugby World Cup is complete, with Canada’s Women’s Rugby Team set to play Scotland, Wales and Fiji in Pool B next year in England.
The 2025 Rugby World Cup will take place over August 22 to September 27, 2025, at eight venues across England.
Currently the number two team in world, Canada is the top ranked team in Pool B, followed by Scotland (7th), Wales (10th) and Fiji (17th).
Canada last played Scotland in November 2018 in Glasgow, winning 28-25. Prior to the 2021 Rugby World Cup (played in 2022), Canada won 24-7 over Fiji in a warm-up match, while Canada’s most recent meeting with Wales was last October at the 2023 WXV 1 tournament, a 42-22 victory for the Canadians.
“Scotland is a team we haven’t played much, but is a style of play I think we know. They’re going to have a lot of time together to prep, so it’s going to be a very good matchup,” said Head Coach Kevin Rouet. “Wales, we know when we face them, it’s always a hard fight. Fiji could be this unpredictable team, that could be amazing. It’s a fun three teams to play. I think it’s going to be good for us.”
“It’s exciting to actually have the pool drawn. It makes everything feel even more real and concrete and kind of gives us an even more tangible goal than before,” said Sophie de Goede. “I think Wales and Scotland will test us in one way and Fiji will test us in another, so it’s a good balance for us to have across our pool.”
The 2025 Rugby World Cup schedule will be announced on October 22, 2024. More information about the 2025 Rugby World Cup, including the full results of the draw, can be found here.
