Canada’s Men’s Sevens Team opened the tournament on Friday against Guyana, with Elias Hancock scoring twice, along with tries from David Richard, Thomas Isherwood, and a career first from Kyle Tremblay, leading Canada to a 29-0 win.
Josiah Morra opened scoring against Bermuda on Saturday morning, with a conversion from Isherwood putting Canada up 7-0. Hancock had yet another two-try performance, scoring back-to-back, with Canada leading 17-0 at half-time. Cooper Coats got Canada started in the second half, converting his own try. Morra scored his second of the game, converted by Coats, with Ethan Hager scoring and kicking a good conversion as well to give Canada a 38-0 win.
Canada’s final pool play match was against Barbados. Morra opened scoring, followed closely by Alex Russell to put the team up 10-0. Due to inclement weather however, the game was halted in the first half. Unable to continue, RAN announced that the game would finish as a draw (0-0).
Canada will now play the Cayman Islands in the quarter-finals on Sunday November 24, with timing to be announced shortly. All matches can be streamed for free on watch.americasnorth.rugby, RugbyPass TV, and Sportsmax.
The winner of RAN Sevens will qualify for the 2025 World Rugby HSBC Sevens Challenger series, the dates and locations of which are still to be announced by World Rugby. The top four placed teams from the HSBC Sevens Challenger will secure a spot in the promotion and relegation play-off competition at the HSBC SVNS World Championship taking place May 3 to 4, 2025, in Los Angeles, at which four HSBC SVNS 2026 berths are up for grabs.
