Canada fall short against Brazil, losing 18-10 in the last match of the South American leg in the Americas Rugby Championship (ARC) on Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Canada had a strong start to the match with a penalty by Brazil setting up veteran Ciaran Hearn for the kick and adding three points on early.

Hearn followed that up by with an impressive effort, weaving his way through players and powering over the line to score the first try of the match. He added on the conversion to put Canada up 10-0 with just 9 minutes played.

From there it was Brazil's Josh Reeves who controlled the scoring for the rest of the match. Reeves was good for 6 penalty kicks that ultimately secured the win for Brazil.

Brazil utilized their powerful scrum to put Canada on their heals and draw several penalties. It was a heated match, with tensions boiling over on both sides but Canada taking the brunt of the penalties.

The Americas Rugby Championships will now break for a bye week where several Canadian players will return to their Major League Rugby duties before they return to home base in Langford, BC to ready themselves for the first of their two home ARC matches.

Canada will face Chile first on February 22 and then match up against Argentina XV on March 1.
