Canada’s Senior Women’s 15s squad named for August camp and test match versus Wales

Rugby 15s Senior Women

Head Coach Kevin Rouet has named his Senior Women’s 15s squad for their upcoming camp in Halifax, NS and test match against Wales.

Head Coach Kevin Rouet has named his Senior Women’s 15s squad for their upcoming camp in Halifax, NS and test match against Wales as Canada’s ‘Journey to the Rugby World Cup’ continues.

The program will officially begin its August camp today, though many of the players have been gathered on the east coast for several weeks as part of a soft centralization.

In doing so, they have put full-time jobs on hold, meaning a huge financial sacrifice, and have missed out on precious time with family and friends, such is their commitment to the program and their dreams of representing their country in New Zealand.

Seeded No. 3 at the Rugby World Cup, Canada’s Women’s 15s - whose official team partner is NFP - will face No. 9-ranked Wales on Saturday, August 27 at 5:00 p.m. Atlantic / 1:00 p.m. Pacific at the Wanderers Grounds. Click here to purchase tickets.

The game represents the program’s last warm-up test match in Canada before they depart for the World Cup. It also follows their first international test match on home soil in seven years, which took place on the opposite coast in Langford, BC last month as they defeated No. 6-ranked Italy 34-24 at Starlight Stadium, the home of Rugby Canada.

“The players, coaches and support staff are all looking forward to this camp, and next Saturday’s test match against Wales,” said Rouet, who will name his match day roster for the game next week. “As we continue to work towards the Rugby World Cup, our time on the training pitches is extremely valuable, as is playing against top-class opposition. We plan to make the most of our time together over the next ten days as we refine our plans and preparations for New Zealand, both on and off the field.”
