Sally Dennis, former Chair of Rugby Canada, has been elected to World Rugby’s Executive Board at the Interim Meeting of Council in Dublin.
Dennis was one of three nominees for the Non-High-Performance Union position, one of six available positions on the World Rugby Executive Board, the first to sit under a new governance mandate of widened independent, player, national and regional representation. This will be the first time that a Canadian has served on the World Rugby Executive Board.
"On behalf of Rugby Canada, I would like to congratulate Sally on her election to the World Rugby Executive Board,” said Kathleen McGinn, Chair of Rugby Canada. “Her experience, skills, leadership and integrity will no doubt make an impact and help advance the game globally. We look forward to working with the World Rugby Executive Board and the new World Rugby Chair, Dr. Brett Robinson, on continuing the growth and development of our sport worldwide.”
The new Chair and six Executive Board members were elected by the 52 members of Council. Elected officials will serve a maximum four-year term, with the new representatives joining the Chair, Chief Executive, Independent EventsCo Chair, three independent members and two athlete representatives on the Executive Board.
